Cartoon Network Birthday Special: Music Video

HOLY CRAP! Turner blocked the entire music video in my country. I saw it on Entertainment Weekly, but BlooMac Vbox (also known as CartoonNetworkRulzz) has posted the entire video on YouTube, w/ the EW.com watermark but it's still blocked to me (i believe it's unblocked in Bulgaria).
It starts with Daffy Duck in hte middle of... nothing, until he sees a sign that says "DUCK SEASON OPEN" and he scares. A gun shoots him and he transforms into Courage running afraid of a shadow. Next in line are Shaggy and Scooby running against a man in an astronaut outfit, which turns into the Powerpuff Girls trying to catch Mojo. Mojo transforms himself into a jawbreaker and the Powepuffs become the Eds (notice the music), which then become K'Nuckles and Flapjack trying to stop a giant piece of candy. Now it's Cheese trying to annoy Mac and Bloo. Cheese becomes Dexter trying to stop a dancing Dee Dee, which then become Rigby and Mordecai and High-Five Ghost. Mordecai bumps on High-Five and uses his soda can to turn it into a really trippy scene. Lots of colorful liquid come out of the can, and LSP falls down. Jake appears on High-Five Ghost's mouth, capturing Finn with his hands. Jake's mouth releases Lady Rainicorn, on which Finn falls out of nowhere and rides on it. Now there are four Rainicorns?! From Lady Rainicorn's ponytail we emerge to a very distant-ish planet with a humongous Jake releasing out of his humongous tongue, Mac, Bloo, Chicken, Buttercup, Darwin and some others, who jump on top of Lady Rainicorn as if she were a rollercoaster. Now i realize that there are also more characters (Wile E. Coyote, Jack, LSP, Benson and Lazlo). The "Rainicoaster" (if there's a new Cartoon Network theme park out there, please call me) passes by a weird mountain with volcano flares around it, until she bumps her head and the characters are taken to... a black and white zone. They all fall in slowmotion. Finn falls, and Pops' head is actually Wilt's right eye. Wilt becomes Bubbles, and many Courages run. Flapjack opens his mouth (HIS LAUGH!) while many Moms walk. The only "Moms" are clones of Mom from Cow and Chicken. Now there are many Gumballs laughing and sliding Adams and some eyes I can't recall while we see a falling Ice King, Benson, Billy and Bugs. Finn's head is sorrounded by six Bloos, which in turn are surrounded by six K'Nuckles, then six Planks, then six monsters (that red monster character on the Looney Tunes Show - please help) ans six more Planks. Dexter unveils an exploding flask (the liquid kinda explodes), leaving a spiral trail around him. It becomes a black Lady Rainicorn.
Finn: Rainicorn's sleepy. But it's time to party.
Jake: I'll wake her up with a tickle.
Jake's stretchy arm tickles Lady Rainicorn and color magically restores.
Finn takes his hat off, which excites Johnny. Lumpy Space Princess tries talking to Kimchi (he farts as if he was actually speaking a word), Muscle Man wrecks the Flintmobile, Johnny Bravo does the monkey with memorable monkey characters, Beemo dances and I don't know what is Richard doing. Is he dancing? They DO remember Robot Jones! Pops turns the record off and we are actually in the poster. And to finish off, Pops' words from this trippy music video:

How Darwin the Merman looks like

So there he is. Next Friday I will make some sort of reunion with two or three more people to make Cartoon Network Portugal. I will also make Darwin's older brother and sister, Kevin and Bea.

Cartoon Network's 20th Anniversary: A History: Part 1

On August 4th, 1986, Ted Turner's cable television conglomerate acquired the pre-1986 MGM library, which included cartoons (such as Tom and Jerry) and most of the movies we see on TCM in Europe, the RKO library which included such shows as "Gilligan's Island" and Gilligan's Planet, as well as a truckload of old cartoons from before 1950 (mainly Looney TUnes).
He already had a channel to showcase his library, TBS but it wasn't until 1988, with the launch of TNT, that his showcase got major prominence. TNT aired the new library, and in 1991, he acquired Hanna-Barbera and the Ruby-Spears library.
On October 1st, 1992, at 12 noon, Droopy launched an ACME bomb (according to some sources) and launched the world's first and only Cartoon Network. The first cartoon shown was a Merrie Melodies short called Rhapsody Rabbit.
Initially, the channel was carried on cable companies in New York, Philadelphia, Washington D.C. and Detroit. From then on, cartoons were shown at any time of day (unless you can count The Flintstones, Top Cat and The Jetsons on ABC in the 60's, as they were the first full primetime cartoons in the world).
In the beggining, there were several packaged blocks on Cartoon Network: "Down Wit' Droopy D" for Droopy, "The Tom and Jerry Show" with some Tom and Jerry episodes, "Bugs and Daffy Tonight" showcased Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies, "Late Night Black and White" for Max Fleischer and Walter Lantz's cartoons from the 30's, and "ToonHeads", just like Pop Up Video on MTV (i'm portuguese, please don'e complain) with a themed package of three shorts. There was also "The Acme Hour", named after ACME, and had, well, Road Runner and Coyote shorts. Cartoon Network launched its first inernational versions in 1993, for Latin America and Europe.

Cartoon Network Portugal: ideas

Hello again, and it's time for an idea for a terrestrial version of Cartoon Network.
Ideas:
The logo needs to be the same, but with the word "PORTUGAL" on a line underneath it. Just like Cartoon Network Arabic.

 It needs to be the same, but, just take out the arabic text and replace it with "PORTUGAL".
The Cartooonito block is not a block - it will be a channel, competing with Canal Panda and JimJam.

Cartoon Network shows on portuguese national channels

Hello everybody! Today, I'll tell you which Cartoon Network shows were shown on my country's (Portugal) national channels.
RTP1:
Dexter's Laboratory: most unlikely, as Henrique Feist's website gives indication that it was shown on RTP1 in 1996... that's really awkward.
Sheep in the Big City: shown on "Hora Warner" in 2002. Season 1 only.
TRANSLATION NOTES:
The show's name in Portugal was "Um Carneiro na Cidade".
Oxymoron -» Boi Mongo (makes sense, boi means ox and Oxymoron's mascot is an ox)

RTP2:
Sheep in the Big City: around the summer or 02. I believe it was shown in the afternoon.
Samurai Jack: around 2002/2003 and 2006. I believe every episode was shown. Or was the last season undubbed? Or I'm actually wrong?
The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy: shown in the spring/summer of 2007. Only season 3 was shown (counting Grim and Evil episodes, season 2 if uncounting them) because I remember watching "Attack of the Clowns" and season 4 (again, 3 if uncounting Grim and Evil) because I remember a dub of "House of no Tomorrow". I even remember watching "House of no Tomorrow" at my grandmother's house.
I also remember that "Destroy us All!" scene in portuguese. It sounds epic in english.
TRANSLATION NOTES:
Here, it had a very portuguese name: "As Aventuras Horripilantes do Beto e da Mena".
HiHi Puffy AmiYumi: Shown on Saturday nights (where Family Guy is now on) in the end of 2006. It later moved to around noon in the spring of 2007.
Demashita! Powerpuff Girls Z!: shown in the fall of 2008, then again in the spring of 2009.
TRANSLATION NOTES:
The show was incorrectly named "Super Poderosas", without no mention of a Z.
Fuzzy Lumpkins, on the anime version was renamed "Luís Confusão". Proof:

Personally, I hate the anime. I like the original Powerpuff series which I grew up with. The series was an RTP exclusive. It was never shown on Cartoon Network in my country.
Hero 108: shown in the summer of 2011.
TRANSLATION NOTES:
The show's name was actually translated: "Herói 108". The intro had the word "HERÓI" in it, but episode names were actually read in voice-over, with no translation.
Mad: Currently on. Shown on weekend mornings and on weekday evenings.
SIC:
Dexter's Laboratory: shown a looooooong time ago, I can't even remember which year! I only remember the english version.
TRANSLATION NOTES:
Name in Portugal: it's actually a literal translation: "O Laboratório do Dexter". Dexter was voiced by Henrique Feist. He aso dubbed several Dragon Ball series (original, Z and GT) on the same channel.
Johnny Bravo: same as Dexter's Lab. I only remember the english version.
Ben 10: premiered on October 10th, 2009. Portuguese theme song:

Ben 10: Alien Force: currently shown on SIC, since 2010 or 2011 at least. Both Ben 10 series (original and Alien Force) were also shown on SIC K.
